“Hi, my name is Gladys Loverso and I would like to share my journey. In 2015 I had a mild stroke at the age of 54 which left me with neuropathy in my left hand and foot. I was told after doing therapy and taking medication that if it didnโ€™t go away the neuropathy would be life long. Being heavy to begin with I added more weight with the effects of the stroke. After many discussions with the doctor I finally said ok to improving my health. Looking in the mirror was depressing. It took about 2 years, but I managed to lose 50 pounds. My husband Joe who is my hero, stood by me in every decision towards my weight loss journey. I wanted a bike so he bought me a 3 wheeler knowing that my balance was an issue. I rode the bike a few times but wasnโ€™t happy. I wanted more. I wanted to prove to myself that I CAN DO IT! I borrowed a regular bike from my sister and off we went. It was bit of a struggle but I did it! Everything I do is with baby steps. Never belonging to a gym, my sister Chelley and best friend Patti talked me into joining Victory Lady Fitness. I had reservations about joining being heavy and out of shape. Today and after everyoneโ€™s support and encouragement, I am proud to say that I have lost 6 inches and 8 pounds in just thirty days. So thank you to my best friend and husband Joe, to Chelley and Patti for showing me that a gym can be fun. I will keep going to prove to myself that anything is possible with determination and good friends. I still have neuropathy and as a stroke patient this is what we call our new normal. Even though this is my normal, I encourage fellow stroke patients to take โ€œCANโ€™Tโ€ out of their vocabulary. If I can get healthier so can you! ” -Gladys Loverso
